“You cannot control the behavior of others, but you can always chose how you respond to it.”
– Roy Bennett
It took me several years of adult life before I came to the realization that I am in control of my life. I don’t get to choose how other people act, but I do get to choose how I react. I don’t get to choose what other people say, but I do get to decide how the words make me feel. I don’t get to decide to have to take on extra responsibilities in the clinic, but I do get to choose if I accept the roles or demonstrate push back.
You cannot control other people’s thoughts, words, emotions, but you control your response. Remember this the next time you are faced with a negative task, co-worker, family member, etc. You can choose your own thoughts, words, and reactions.
Take control of your life!
