Combating nurse practitioner burnout- with the Elite NP

Combating nurse practitioner burnout with The Elite NP

I was recently on The Elite Nurse Practitioner Podcast to discuss combating nurse practitioner burnout and I wanted to share the episode with you!

The Elite NP and I take a deep dive into:

  • Our experiences of nurse practitioner burnout
  • Tips to combating nurse practitioner burnout
  • Controlling imposter syndrome
  • How to take control of your life
  • And so much more!

My struggle with burnout

On the podcast episode, I discuss my own burnout journey and how I was ready to leave healthcare. I felt mentally, physically, and emotionally exhausted. I dreaded going to work and no longer found interest in activities I previously loved. I started to feel detached from my work, my family, and even myself. I was completely burned out.

Overtime, I realized I was in control of my life and worked on combating nurse practitioner burnout. I worked on my own personal development and made the necessary changes to overcome burnout. I prioritized time for self-care. I set healthy boundaries. I changed my mindset to believe it was possible. I improved my work-life balance. I chose to stay in nursing and resolve my burnout

I created The Burned-out Nurse Practitioner to help other NPs do the same! The mission of The Burned-out NP is to help overwhelmed APRNs create a better work-life balance and overcome nurse practitioner burnout!

The Elite NP’s struggle with burnout

Justin, The Elite NP talks about his own struggles with burnout. He was working in a busy urgent care seeing a ridiculous amount of patients in one shift. Justin was tired of being overworked and underpaid. He worked on combating nurse practitioner burnout by starting his own cash-based practice. Now Justin owns multiple different businesses. Justin was able to combat the nurse practitioner burnout!

Justin created The Elite Nurse Practitioner to teach APRNs how to start their own business and take control of their personal and professional lives. The Elite NP is an advocate for nurse practitioners to improve their financial and personal well-being.

The Elite NP and I’s burnout stories just goes to show exactly how many nurse practitioners are struggling with burnout! Listen to the entire podcast here: Combating nurse practitioner burnout with The Elite NP!

Struggles with imposter syndrome

Justin and I also discuss our own struggles with imposter syndrome and not feeling good enough as a nurse practitioner. Imposter syndrome is something many nurse practitioners struggle with no matter how long they have been practicing. Most often, nurse practitioners need to take time to reflect on the origin of the imposter syndrome and do the mindset shifts to overcome. The Burned-out Nurse Practitioners has a course that trains NPs how to Control the Imposter Syndrome.

This podcast episode is jam packed with information and tips on what factors are impacting nurse practitioners the most.
